remember in august when i won a e-design giveaway? it was super exciting to get the email from kimberly. she asked me some questions about my style, goals for the room, and what we used it for. i let her know that the room is super tiny, and that we must use it as both a guest room and an office, and that we need storage. after emailing back and forth, kimberly sent me a fun design board to work from. i took almost all of her advice {we couldn't fit an additional bookshelf because of space issues} and tried to incorporate everything. due to space issues, the furniture placement had to stay the same.
she suggested the striped rug via crate&barrel, some additional art pieces perhaps from etsy, a sunburst mirror from target, storage bins from ikea, a tray for the dresser, and new hardware. i've been working on the guest room/office slowly but surely; it'salmost complete! the changes have mostly been subtle-moving things, rearranging photos, etc, but to me, those kinds of changes take the longest & make a big difference.
before:
during:
{hung- too small over the bed & for 12 ft ceilings; will be used elsewhere}
{rust-oleum oil-based paint, semi-gloss white}
{gold dipped legs; bubble nob from world market}
finished:
{dresser re-furbished, shade w/ black band, new lamp-thanks e., gold glittery tray}
{gallery wall re-figured, mats painted fern green, "inspire" became gold, acrylic wall storage}
{adore the white desk and chair together}
{big red frame balances out the room- it says "be kind"}
{bookshelf redo; loving that striped rug and chair}
the room is functional, happy, and provides a comfy place to work/study and for our overnight guests! plus, we cleaned out all the drawers in the dresser for storage purposes! i love the way it looks.
thanks kimberly for your design inspiration!! -j.
