This, the power of the cross...

Oh how we love Easter, its by far our favorite holiday! However it seems to be so overlooked in comparison to Christmas & even Thanksgiving. Don’t get me wrong,, who doesn't love bunnies and candy, new dresses and john-johns, bows and frilly socks, white making its debut, egg hunts and easter baskets, delicious food and time outside with family. Its all so much fun but do we miss the point in all of this? Do we miss what all of this stands for? Do we really understand and grasp the significance of this 4 day event beginning with The Last Supper and Ending with The Resurrection? As a Christian, Easter is and should be our biggest celebration of the year! Yes Jesus came into this world as a baby at Christmas, but what if there were no Easter? There would be no culmination of the story or purpose in his human existence…Easter is what sets us apart! This year, we challenge you to to not just celebrate the newness and hope of spring, family time or all the fun activities, but to really celebrate Jesus & grasp the Power of the Cross! -E, B & J

Oh, to see the dawn
Of the darkest day:
Christ on the road to Calvary.
Tried by sinful men,
Torn and beaten, then
Nailed to a cross of wood.

This, the pow'r of the cross:
Christ became sin for us;
Took the blame, bore the wrath—
We stand forgiven at the cross.

Oh, to see the pain
Written on Your face,
Bearing the awesome weight of sin.
Ev'ry bitter thought,
Ev'ry evil deed
Crowning Your bloodstained brow.

Now the daylight flees;
Now the ground beneath
Quakes as its Maker bows His head.
Curtain torn in two,
Dead are raised to life;
"Finished!" the vict'ry cry.

Oh, to see my name
Written in the wounds,
For through Your suffering I am free.
Death is crushed to death;
Life is mine to live,
Won through Your selfless love.
This, the pow'r of the cross:
Son of God—slain for us.

What a love! What a cost!
We stand forgiven at the cross.
