rediscovery...

After becoming a mom, it took me quite some time to remember what I loved to do, you know hobbies, things of interest, ways to relax...it's as if you have to rediscover yourself because every ounce of you has changed or at least that's what it feels like! So in an effort to "find" myself...I revisited one of my favorite pastimes...reading! I love to read, always have...it's one of those things that totally relaxes me and takes me away to another place. A place of rest and rejuvenation. I love nothing more than to find a great book, become totally immersed in it to where I can't put it down, basically become obsessed with it. There are a handful of books that have done this for me so I remember them pretty well and every time I go to pick out a new book, I wait anxiously for that feeling, that pull and excitement! If it doesn't have it within the first 20-30 pages, then I don't finish it...I know so bad, but I just feel like a great writer sucks you in and grabs your attention immediately.

Since my son was born almost 2 years ago, I've read 1 fiction book worthy of recommendation(so pathetic)...The Help by Kathryn Stockett. Hands down one of the best books I've ever read. Its truly incredible. So unique, moving, thought provoking, heart wrenching, etc. I could go on and on. Its a must read and they are making a movie out of it!
Since my son was born, I've read 1 non-fiction book worthy of recommendation(again pathetic)...Strong Women, Soft Hearts by Paula Rinehart. Hands down the best Christian women's book I've ever read. It has changed my life, I reference it weekly. Go buy this book, it touches on every issue women face and challenges you to become the woman God created you to be, wise, strong, soft hearted, patient, etc.
After assessing my pathetic display of a hobby, I realized it was time for a new book and friends, I do believe I've found my next recommendation: Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah, a story of 2 best friends and their journey through life together. I could be wrong but considering I was up till almost 1:00 am reading even after my hubby woke up for the 3rd time to tell me to turn my light off, I then proceeded to go sit in our bathroom on the toilet and read a little more until my 7 month pregnant bottom hurt from the discomfort of the hard, cold, toilet lid, that I forced myself to get up and go to bed. So we shall see, but its looking like a keeper!
Happy Reading & Rediscovering who you are and the things that bring you JOY! -B
